Meet the Investment Team

Frank Brown
Frank Brown has been actively providing investment banking advice to financial services companies and other businesses for over 25 years. He began his career in 1977 with The First Boston Corporation in New York. Subsequently, he served in senior investment banking roles at The Robinson-Humphrey Company and Bankers Trust New York Corporation. In the mid 1990’s, he founded the investment banking boutique, Brown, Burke Capital Partners, one of the most active firms executing mergers and acquisitions in the financial services industry in the Southeast. Mr. Brown was also the managing member of Capital Appreciation Partners, an Atlanta-based venture capital and merchant-banking fund with $30 million in committed capital. Mr. Brown is a member of the Board of Directors of several public and private companies and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Charlie Miller
With over 30 years in the financial services industry, Charlie Miller has experience in bank and thrift mergers and acquisitions, capital planning, investor relations, strategic planning and organizational development. Prior to joining Silverton Bank, Mr. Miller managed the investment practice for Sterne, Agee & Leach and previously, Alex Sheshunoff Investment Banking. Additionally, Mr. Miller served as Chief Financial Officer for several multi-billion dollar financial institutions. Mr. Miller is a graduate of the Stonier and Duke Graduate Schools of Banking and has been involved in well over one hundred acquisition / divestiture transactions.

Michael Nunan
Michael Nunan has over 20 years of experience in banking and investment banking. Over that time, he has been involved in more than 100 financing and advisory transactions and has extensive experience in capital raising, mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning. Mr. Nunan began his career in commercial banking and then joined J.C. Bradford & Co. in 1987 as an equity research analyst, spending four years following community banks and thrifts. He then moved to investment banking, where he led Bradford's Financial Institutions Investment Banking Group. After the sale of the firm, he worked with Robert W. Baird and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, and most recently has provided financing and merger and acquisition advisory services to financial institutions through his own firm.

Michelle Hobbs Banks
Michelle Banks began her career at The Robinson-Humphrey Company in the Research Department, where she followed Southeastern banks and specialty finance companies. While at Robinson-Humphrey, Ms. Banks wrote and published both industry and company-specific research reports based on in-depth analysis of strategic and financial trends. Subsequently, Ms.Banks was a member of financial institutions corporate finance teams at Arthur Andersen and a Vice President at Ernst & Young, where she worked directly with senior management teams to formulate and execute investment banking strategies for a wide range of financial services firms including banks, brokerage, asset management, insurance, and specialty finance companies. Ms. Banks received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington & Lee University and a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Michael Rediker
Michael Rediker works on merger and acquisition advisory engagements, Trust Preferred Securities placements and capital planning. He is a graduate of Tulane University, where he received a double B.S.M. in Finance and Business Law. Prior to joining Silverton Bank, Mr. Rediker was an investment banking associate at Sterne, Agee & Leach, Inc., where he was active in merger and acquisition advisories, public and private capital issuances, capital planning, Trust Preferred Securities placements, and fairness opinion renderings for the bank and thrift industry.

D. Scott Carter

Scott Carter began his work with financial institutions in the Institutional Fixed Income Division of Sterne, Agee & Leach. As Vice President of Risk Analytics, he helped manage the analytics group and provided fixed income research and asset/liability management strategies to community banks. Most recently, Mr. Carter worked for Alabama National BanCorporation in the Investment Division and also served as Executive Vice President of R2Metrics, an interest rate risk analytics and software company headquartered in Birmingham, AL. While at Alabama National, he worked with the institutional sales force providing fixed income research and analysis. At R2Metrics, he continued his work with fixed income products and also consulted with investment advisors and community bank managers regarding Asset/Liability management strategies and solutions. Scott received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
